On Tuesday, Nov. 13, Knopf Books for Young Readers will publish Fitz, Mick Cochrane's first young adult novel. The book tells the story of 15-year-old Fitzgerald—Fitz to his friends—who, craving some quality time with the father he’s never known, decides one day to ask for it—at gunpoint.
Random House/Knopf Executive Editor Erin Clarke said the new book is "full of characters you will quickly come to love." Clarke, who calls Mick "one of my favorite writers with whom I have the privilege of working," said she predicts readers will "feel the same sense of marvel" that she does when reading his writing. "Mick Cochrane is a master craftsman who writes with an intense precision of language," Clarke said. “Fitz is a taut, heartwarming novel.”
On November 13, at 7 pm, in the Grupp Fireside Lounge, located on the 2nd floor of the Canisius College Student Center, Mick will celebrate the publication of Fitzwith a reading and book-signing. For more details, call 716 888.2650.
