Knopf to Publish New Novel on November 13

Town of Westford SealOn Tuesday, Nov. 13, Knopf Books for Young Readers will publish Fitz, Mick Cochrane's first young adult novel. The book tells the story of 15-year-old Fitzgerald—Fitz to his friends—who, craving some quality time with the father he’s never known, decides one day to ask for it—at gunpoint.

Random House/Knopf Executive Editor Erin Clarke said the new book is "full of characters you will quickly come to love." Clarke, who calls Mick "one of my favorite writers with whom I have the privilege of working," said she predicts readers will "feel the same sense of marvel" that she does when reading his writing. "Mick Cochrane is a master craftsman who writes with an intense precision of language," Clarke said. “Fitz is a taut, heartwarming novel.”

On November 13, at 7 pm, in the Grupp Fireside Lounge, located on the 2nd floor of the Canisius College Student Center, Mick will celebrate the publication of Fitz with a reading and book-signing. For more details, call 716 888.2650.
